Yeah, I'm leaning that way too. (Multiple possible solutions, each with
its strengths and weaknesses, but "grab a statically linked binary and
it's entirely self-contained" is a pretty compelling strength...)

I should ship prebuilt binaries for all the aboriginal linux targets for
the 0.2.1 release.  Hmmm...
