Ok, reopening the toysh can of worms now...

Applied-ish. (Does not apply here because:

$ git diff tests/tar.test | diffstat
 tar.test |   54 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++------
 1 file changed, 48 insertions(+), 6 deletions(-)

but I'll do it by hand and try to get it checked in today.)
