I got google fiber, which is lovely when it works.

Alas, that qualifier is significant...

Yeah, I looked at a few used machines from ebay, but they're all of similar
vintage. My general impression is that the newer Apple kit doesn't last long
enough to be sold on the used market:

Their "planned obsolecence" game seems a bit more aggressive these days than
"battery no longer holds a charge and is a lot rounder than it used to be", but
I'm not a fan of walled gardens so have avoided that ecosystem.
