I assume Rob is boycotting my patches because I took his
repeated abrasiveness towards people as a sign that his "ruthless
pragmatism" could be met with "ruthless pragmatism" (Instead
of being pushed away from the project like the other hobbyists
(I've seen several) who didn't wanna deal how Rob acts)
Me getting emails from people who were pushed away from Rob
or seeing people not come back to the project after Rob acted
abrasive towards them doesn't just happen, but happens regularly.
I prefer not to cite specific incidents, but if Rob goes "No, it
surely is the entire world around me that is wrong, It could never
possibly be me" yet again, I can give them.
So it's hard for me to believe I'm the sole problem (Admittedly,
probably a bit too abrasive sometimes, but "I didn't read the context
so I'm assuming you are being irrational, so I'm bailing the thread
which makes any attempt to rectify that will make you both irrational
and persistent about it" made me _angry_) when other people have had
similar experiences. Especially when Rob peppers his emails to places
like linux-kernel with what is essentially "Your community is horrible".
*Shrug* I'll still poke at the code and find things to improve and
throw my patches into the void (And failing that, there's always musl
or alpine or the projects made by the people you dissuaded from working
directly with you (Yes, multiple)) under the assumption that maybe one
day Rob will bother to look at him if he gets over stuff like the
fact I dared to say that "You wanna improve *my* code, MY CODE, was
it not good enough for you? How DARE YO-" (Before someone says this
isn't a fair representation "You are once again saying that what I
wrote was not good enough for you, that I am wrong, and must change
to suit you" was the actual quote) wasn't rational or particularly
productive.
TL;DR: It's as much as his loss as it is his problem.
