That's why I subscribe a read only and a separate write only account to
email lists. gmail filters the posts the write only account makes, but
that's OK, I don't use that account to read the lists. The read only
account never posts, so it sees the entire list and deals with it
fine. People replying or CCing replies to the write only account,
those go through the normal email process and bypass the list anyway.
So I get to see them to. Plus I have a filter that removes duplicates
for those that reply to the list AND CC me, I guess based on the theory
that people never the read lists they post to. shrugs

Back in the day when gmail was beta and invite only, I (and others)
complained long and loud that this was a bug, but google insists that
it's a feature. Using read and write accounts is STILL the only way
around that. An option to turn that off would make everyone happy. I
guess that's just too hard for google to implement.

Seriously considering just running my own private email server.
