As an external dependency, no.  As a single file I can suck into the
build and use internally (the way dropbear contains libtomcrypt), maybe?
 I haven't read the code yet, but the general idea looks reasonable.

I probably won't tackle "the shell" until after the new year, although
line editing also comes up when implementing a text editor and "less"
and a few other places.  I note that I had to extensively debug the
busybox line editing capability to make it be not crap, big long thread

Does linenoise get that part right?
