OK, must have changed--or I may have misrecalled. 
It's been 3 years since I last set up a new Ubuntu install...

I find that it gets tedious trying to remember the almost-standardization 
of who knows how many firmwares and drivers, combined with arbitrary 
differences so that you need 3 paths on 3 computers.
